Silk line Impregnation or saturation with vacuum, simple method

Even though the method is simple, it requires some time spent...

1. Go shopping for a glass jar of  "thick and chunky " Santa Maria Tex -Mex salsa dip , eat and wash the jar .

2. Fill up to half with boiled linseed oil

3.  Heat the linseed oil by putting the jar into pot in which you boil water, allow to warm min . 80 degrees C

4. Insert the line into soup and keep the jar in slowly boiling water for about 15 - minutes

5. Close the lid tightly and lift the jar to the terrace or in a cool corner of the basement to get cooled.

The picture shows the negative pressure created by the cooling to make the bubbling and air replaced with linseed oil in silk thread.

6. for about an hour - a couple of hours after cooling (renovation of old line, even longer, eg. Day or two ) wave and turn slightly the jar  to get all (at least most of) the bubbles rise to the surface and when the bubbling is substantially reduced , open the lid (should emit a loud clicking noise when opening ) , wipe the excess off  and hang to dry.

After drying, rub and polish the surface with a fiber cloth or even steel wool. Repeat treatment  as many times you need to get a shiny surface you want and desire. Vacuum treatment for two times  probably is enough, further treatments, just put into jar containing boiled linseed oil, for eg. 30 minutes, wipe the excess and hang to dry.
